CSc 114: Introduction to Computer Science

These are lab assignments for CSc 114. The first group are provided by the textbook publisher.
The Friendly Python is a series of programming labs we are using instead of the publisher's Javascript labs. For each lab, the name is a link to the instructions, and there is a note about what to turn in. Each lab also has a quiz. Quizzes are available only in lab on appropriate lab day; when the quizzes are available, the links will be active.

Lab 1.1: Software and Data Storage

Quiz:	Closed
Handin:	For this one, the instructor will just check that you are working on the lab and check off your name.
Also during this lab, you must request a campus web page if you don't have one. Go to account administration and choose Request Web Space. We will need this ready for the next lab, you need to request it several days in advance. Do it now, or sooner.

Lab 1.2: Internet Basics

Here is a page for looking up host names, one of things you do in the lab. Don't miss the instruction near the end of the lab to make and store an image file. Be careful to use the GIF format as it specifies.

This “lab” is really just a writing exercise, so we will meet in the regular classroom.

Lab 3.2: Database

Here is the initial database file. Download it and save it to the desktop. Right click on the link and choose Save Target As. Then open it from the desktop. Do not open this file directly from the browser. Save it first, then open the saved copy.
